Myken, NO #arrivederci

I've daydreamed of Myken for years.

Idun filled my mind with wonder about the island she's spent so much time with. Stories of her childhood dance around this tiny wonderland while her eyes are filled with a joy I've never seen firsthand. Myken is home to her family's distillery (yes, the world's first Arctic distillery), and the home of 9 others.

With the cutest little grocery store (open 12-2, except Sundays), a top-tier restaurant (only open in the summer, of course), a cozy bed & breakfast, and a 'cathedral' filled with casks - Myken is truly magic.

I cozied up and settled in for most of the week. Spending hours on end staring out the window as snow fell, reading books & journaling the day away. When the sun finally rose (around 11AM), Idun and I rushed around to greet it. We spent as much time as we could soaking up the sunshine, before it fell again three hours later.

Everyone in the town gathers at the store to chat over home-baked goods and knitting needles. Is that not the freaking cutest thing you've ever heard?!

I fell in love with Myken. I took millions of photos and spent hours enjoying the simple magic of existing in such a deeply beautiful place. It wrapped me up and hugged me tight. It filled me with a home-cooked joy I wish I could bottle up and take with me. For now, I'll settle for whiskey.

x,

arrivederci
